In 2000, I made the journey to Iceland where I first started doing viking reenactments. I had always been interested in the viking legends as a kid and Iceland immediately felt like home. I made friends with a member of Rimmugýgur who invited me to one of their shows and to sell some of my tools. It wasn't long before they welcomed me in and invited me to their practices. I stayed in Iceland for about 5 years doing viking reenactments with Rimmugýgur and becoming a hersier (training officer). When I came back to Alaska, I started my own group called Grotti to continue the tradition.
